Daddy asked me why I never do a blog about our Baby Kaiser hence we decided to do one. But it seems like I'm the only one posting when Daddy should be writing some posts as well...hahaha!
1st Trimester Scans
Actually babies grow very fast. On the left hand side of the picture shows Kaiser about 6 weeks 1 day. That was the 1st scan we did on May 2010 after we came back from our Europe trip. We didn't have any name for Kaiser yet hence we called him Bean Bean. The sag which Bean Bean was floating in was about 1.51cm and Dr Lee was very optimistic about this pregnancy, even though the heartbeat could not be detected yet. Initially, he suggested to do virginal scan to detect the heartbeat but I declined and told him that I would rather wait for a while. He pointed out that the fetus pole for the previous pregnancy was so small compared to this one which is growing on track and asked me not to worry too much and let nature takes its own course. I told him that I had pinky discharge when I was holidaying in Europe and he gave me utrogestan 100mg to take 3 times a day to stabilise the pregnancy. He also asked me if I needed MC but I told him I can't take any cos I am a self-employed person and every business is impt. If I can remember correctly, Daddy was in Taiwan working when I went for the 1st scan so I scan the picture and email it over to him and all we did was to wait for the 2nd scan to see how Bean Bean has developed.
Over the next few weeks, I had brownish discharge, which was a bit worrying for me but Dr Lee said that as long as it was fresh blood, it should be ok. He also said something that made sense, "if it wasn't a viable pregnancy, it is better to let go then to keep holding on and losing it at a later stage."
On the right side of the picture was the 2nd scan done on 15 may 2010. Again Daddy was not there as he was still in Taiwan. Dr Lee was always so jovial whenever I see him and he will always ask where Daddy is and how my mum is doing. This time round, the sag had grown to 3.59cm and I could see Bean Bean! He measured about 1.10cm and showing a gestational age of 7 weeks 1 day. The machine also showed that the EDD is on the 31 Dec 2010. I hope Bean Bean doesn't mind being born on the last day of 2010...hahaha!
The best part is I could hear the heartbeat of Bean Bean. Dr Lee said that it was strong and congratulated me. It was such a touching moment for me to know that Bean Bean was alive inside my womb! Wanted to cry but held back my tears. I continued my utrogestan pills as I wanted to make sure that everything would go on smoothly. Daddy was very anxious and called me up to ask me about the scan. Told him that everything was ok and I got to hear the heartbeat of Bean Bean. He was very happy and again, I scanned and emailed him the pictures and chatted with him over video conferencing thru' MSN.
Finally, Daddy was back in S'pore on 29 May 2010 to accompany me to see Dr Lee. The scan on the left side of the above pic was done on 29 May, when Bean Bean was estimated to be about 9 weeks. The sag has grown to be about 5.85cm and the heartbeat was getting stronger too. Bean Bean is looking more and more like a baby now. Dr Lee was very happy and congratulated us once again. Bean Bean EDD changed to 1 Jan 2011. If only Bean Bean is the 1st baby to be born on 1 Jan 2011, then he will get free diapers and milk powder...hahaha! Hhmm... but i doubted he will be born that day cos I heard a lot of people gave birth earlier than the EDD. If Bean Bean were to come out earlier, then I hoped that he will be out on 25 Dec or 26 Dec cos that was when we lost our little angel and if Bean Bean were to be out on either of those days, it will be very meaningful to us too.
We signed up for the prenatal package with Dr Lee on that day too as he was optimistic about this pregnancy. Usually, people will only sign up for the package when they are in the 12 to 15 weeks but i thought might as well signed up first cos if I go for consultations & scans without the package, it is very costly...about S$100 to S$180 per visit, not including the vitamins. Dr Lee's package is S$822 but his nurse mentioned that S$450 can be claimed from Medisave or something like that. So on that day, I was S$822 poorer.
The scan on the right was on 23 June 2010. Bean Bean was looking more and more human like. Gosh...this was so amazing. We could make out the head, body, arms and legs. Dr Lee tried to do a 3D scan even though it was still a bit too early to do so. Now Bean Bean EDD changed to 28 Dec 2010 but Dr Lee said not to worry about it cos it will keep changing. As long as it is within that few days, it is fine. We did a video recording of the ultrasoscan that day too. Shacks...why didn't I think of doing it earlier on? Stupid me.
